Saint Germaine Cousin relic Reliquary Antique Devotional Pendant + wax seal

Devotional reliquary containing an important relic of:
Saint Germaine Cousin, identified by the interior label and the reverse inscription, “Ste Germaine, priez pour nous.”
This oval devotional pendant presents a small relic fragment on a diamond-shaped support against a rich red textile background, protected beneath a glazed window. An ornamental frame with scrolling details and slender columns creates an intimate architectural setting. The reverse bears a raised representation of Saint Germaine with pastoral attributes, while a suspension ring completes this personal devotional object.
Probably dating to the late nineteenth century, this reliquary offers a meaningful focus for prayer and remembrance of a saint cherished for her humility, patience, and steadfast trust in God.
Reliquary guarantee
The interior reverse retains red sealing wax and securing threads, consistent with traditional ecclesiastical relic mounting. The wax is visibly irregular and damaged; its impression cannot be confidently identified from the photographs. Episcopal attribution and an uninterrupted sealed history therefore cannot be guaranteed.
Biography:
Born near Toulouse in 1579, Germaine Cousin endured physical disability, illness, and harsh treatment while tending sheep. Remembered for her charity toward the poor and devotion to the Eucharist, she is associated in Catholic tradition with miraculous flowers and the crossing of a stream without becoming wet. She died in 1601, aged approximately twenty-two, and was canonized in 1867.
Condition
Good overall presentation, with aged metal patina, light surface wear, and wear to the interior wax. The decorative relief and devotional arrangement remain appealing.
