Reliquary 1st Class Relic St Gemma Galgani + Wax Seal

Reliquary from the early 20th century containing a First-Class relic of Saint Gemma Galgani, the Virgin of Lucca. This devotional piece features a beautifully preserved relic displayed under glass. 
 
The reverse of the reliquary displays an intact red wax episcopal seal, along with red silk threads, which assure the authenticity of the relic’s ecclesiastical origin. These elements remain undisturbed, affirming the relic’s preserved and original condition.
Saint Gemma Galgani, known as the “Virgin of Lucca,” was a young Italian mystic whose life was marked by extraordinary love for Christ. Born in 1878 near Lucca, she grew up with a deep devotion to prayer and the Passion of Jesus. Though frail and often sick, her faith never wavered. Gemma experienced remarkable mystical graces, including visions of Jesus, the Virgin Mary, and her guardian angel, as well as the stigmata—the wounds of Christ—appearing on her body. Despite suffering, she radiated serenity and compassion, offering her life as a sacrifice for sinners. She longed to join the Passionist order but was prevented by her poor health, so she lived holiness in her ordinary life instead. Canonized in 1940, Saint Gemma is remembered as a modern witness of purity, courage, and complete trust in God, inspiring countless people to embrace faith with simplicity and love.
