19thC Silver Reliquary 1st Class Relic St Peter Claver+Wax Seal

19th-century Italian silver reliquary containing a First-Class relic of Saint Peter Claver, the Jesuit missionary renowned for his lifelong service to enslaved Africans in the Americas. The sacred relic is carefully displayed beneath glass and traditionally arranged, reflecting the refined craftsmanship and devotional character of Italian ecclesiastical art of the period.
At the back of the reliquary, there is an episcopalian wax seal bearing the official emblem of the Society of Jesus (IHS), together with the original silk threads, holding the threads together and guaranteeing the authenticity of the holy relic. These elements remain intact, attesting to the reliquary’s Jesuit provenance, ecclesiastical certification, and preserved condition.
This reliquary stands as a powerful devotional and historical object, honoring a saint celebrated for his charity, humility, and radical commitment to human dignity within the Catholic tradition.
