This carefully crafted statue of Saint Arbogast was made in the 19th Century in Northem France / South Germany and was made in the Gothic style, which grew in popularity after the romanticist movement brought back interest in the medieval ages where intuition and mysticism were more important than scientific data. This statue was created to be placed in a small chapel within a larger church possibly in the surrounds of the city of Strasbourg.
Saint Arbogast of Strasbourg; German: (600s – 700 AD) was a 7th-century missionary in the Frankish Empire and an early Bishop of Strasbourg of Irish origin.

Condition
Good condition overall, wear and tear consistent with its age. Some chips on the top layer of the polychrome present.
