19th Cent. Reliquary Ex Pallio Relic St. Joseph, Spouse Virgin Mary + Wax Seal

This remarkable 19th-century reliquary holds an ex pallio relic of St. Joseph, the spouse of the Virgin Mary and the earthly father of Jesus Christ. Revered as the patron saint of workers, families, and the universal Church, this sacred relic encapsulates the devotion and faith associated with St. Joseph.

The relic is housed in a simple yet elegant oval brass reliquary with an aged patina that enhances its historical charm. It is securely enclosed beneath its original glass and displays a red silk background, further highlighting the saint's name, "S. Joseph Spons."
Why No Body Remains of St. Joseph?
The Catholic Church teaches that St. Joseph's body, like that of the Virgin Mary, did not undergo normal decay after death. It is believed by many theologians and saints that his body was either assumed into heaven or preserved by divine intervention due to his extraordinary role in salvation history as the foster father of Jesus and the chaste spouse of Mary. This unique belief underscores the significance of relics associated with St. Joseph, as physical remains of his body are not known to exist.
