18th C. Reliquary Relic 1st Class St Andrew Apostle + Wax Seal

This rare 18th-century oval reliquary enshrines a sacred First-Class Relic (Ex Ossibus) of Saint Andrew the Apostle, one of the Twelve Apostles and brother of Saint Peter. The relic is displayed in a brass theca with a convex glass front, against a deep red silk background. The interior includes gilt star motifs and a clearly inscribed label identifying the relic as Ex Oss. S. Andreae Ap.
The back of the reliquary remains sealed with its original red episcopal wax seal and intact silk threads, affirming ecclesiastical authentication. The simplicity and refinement of the theca, along with the pristine preservation of its components, highlight both devotional purpose and 18th-century craftsmanship.
Saint Andrew, martyred on an X-shaped cross, is venerated as the patron saint of Scotland, Russia, and fishermen. His relics have long been objects of pilgrimage, and this theca offers a tangible connection to his enduring legacy.
Condition: Good  condition. The relic label, original threads, wax seal, and glass covering are in their place, with damage signs to the seal.
